What's New: July 26th 1999, I finally got all the thumbnails working in the Photo Album and Friends sections. Plus I've been adding MIDI files constantly for the past couple of weeks. Also due to popular demand I'm trying to update the info on my site & not just leave my life's story here.

Well... I just got back from visiting good ole Bob in Florida for Memorial Day weekend. Didn't do anything too exciting other than watch all the racing on TV (Indy 500, Spanish GP, CART Gateway) I also took advantage of the fact I was in the States & watched The Phantom Menace (twice) since in Mexico it wasn't opening until July (can you believe it!!! it opened in Australia before here, I figure my countrymen were waiting to collect all the stolen copies) I also got some serious shopping done since my new post at the Fonda requires I look sharp. Pretty boring, huh? Nothing like my last visit in November when my purple hair was the rage of the nightclubs.

I guess the most "exciting" part of the trip was when we got crashed into by a drunk driver. It's a long story but the funny thing was she pretty much tore off the whole front suspension of her car after hitting us & then she tried to run away, but without a left front tyre she ended up going the wrong way down the street & almost crashing into a concrete wall. Another funny thing was everyone who saw the accident chased her down like a mad posse. They weren't going to let her get away, not in the USA! :-) After a quick breathalizer test she was promptly cuffed and taken away. I bet she wished she was in Mexico where a crisp 50 dollar bill would've taken care of the fuzz.

My Life's Story (condensed version)

Hola! My name is Claudio Hall van Beuren. I was born in Mxico D.F. (Distrito Federal, or Mexico City) on July 29, 1968 at the ABC Hospital. My parents are Robert P. Hall Jr. of Meridian, MS and Judith A. (Bunny) van Beuren of Mexico City.

I went to Colegio Junipero. From there it was on to the American School Foundation, known better as Colegio Americano. I lasted 1 1/2 years before I went to live with my grandpa in Walnut Creek, CA where I had stayed many spring breaks, vacations & summers (while going to nearby Skylake Ranch Camp in Ahwahnee,CA near Yosemite National Park).

There I attended Foothill Intermediate School for 6 months until I went to Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs, CO where I didn't fit in very well (to put it mildly). So... 6 months later...back at the American School in Mexico after serving my one year suspension.

6 months after that I dropped out of school. When I turned 18 I bought a kart & started racing at the Kartodromo Internacional Izcalli. I won 4 National Karting Championships, placed 2nd in one & 3rd in the other out of the 6 I participated in a 3 year span. With those results I began having aspirations of getting into Formula One or Indy Car.

I moved to New York City in 1991 and started racing in the Skip Barber Formula Ford Series. In 1993 I made my pro debut in the Barber/Saab Pro Series. I started to race the 1994 season & after the first race I went to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo & broke my arm in a freak boogieboarding accident. I splintered my humerus in half like a hot dog bun & had to have 6 screws put in. I also injured my radial nerve & could not move my hand for months (a VERY scary concept). After rehabilitating myself & regaining strength & movement (thanks to acupuncture sessions & practicing Lima Lama) I retired from racing.

I returned to work at the Fonda el Refugio & spent the following 3 years there. Then I had a life changing experience, I bought my first computer. Ever since then I've been pretty much online. I started a company with a couple of my friends interidea.com. Thing is. we royally sucked. So now I'm back at the restaurant again.
